Licence requirements
To ride legally in Hà Giang, travellers need both of the documents below. Due to legal requirements and frequent police checks, motorbikes cannot be rented without the proper licensing.

Home country licence with motorcycle certification
Your full driving licence from home must include a motorcycle endorsement. A car-only licence is not enough.

International Driving Permit (1968 convention), class A
An IDP issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention, stamped for class A motorcycles. Permits issued under the 1949 convention are not accepted.

Insurance and support
Insurance can be added to any bike. Ask us when you book.
What is covered
Moderate damage, including cosmetic damage and minor repairs.
What is not covered
Structural damage and engine damage.
Truck support on large bikes
Large bikes come with pick-up truck support, so if anything goes wrong along the route, a truck comes to collect you and the bike.
